When Moments Become A Movement, Kendrick Lamar’s Powerful And Moving Grammys Performance

After winning five Grammys Kendrick Lamar Kills It making a political and controversial statement that was so black even white people left pumping their fist.


The performance starts out with the jazz version of ‘The Blacker The Berry’, with Kendrick Lamar in chains in jail with a glow in the dark jumpsuit and African dancers and just when you thought it couldn’t get any blacker he does something else. Lamar did a special tribute to the Black Lives Matter Movement, “saying we gon be alright”

He transitioned and the chains were broken as he and his dancers were liberated to “Alright.” Lamar proclaimed “I’m African-American, I’m African. I’m black as the moon, heritage of a small village. My hair is nappy, my d–k is big, my nose is round and wide, you hate me don’t you?”

Lamar also shared a new verse about the death of Trayvon Martin. “On February 26th, I lost my life, too. Sent us back 400 years. This is modern-day slavery,” he raps.


After getting a whopping 11 nominations he took home 5 awards for best rap album, rap performance, rap song, rap/sung collaboration and music video. Lamar received a lot of support and praise from his peers and even a shoutout from The White House!!
