Watch Rihanna’s Emotionally Charged Billboard Music Awards Performance

Wearing a sea foam green fur stole and shades, Rihanna captivated the audience at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards last night (May 22) with a bluesy rendition of “Love on the Brain.”

The Barbadian singer seemed to savor the performance of the throwback lounge cut, drawing out high notes and swaying with emotion during the song’s chorus.

“I’m tired of being played like a violin,” Rihanna sang during her gut-wrenching solo performance. “What do I gotta do to get in your motherf—ing heart?” The singer began in the dark, crooning into the microphone stand before commanding the stage like Whitney Houston – a storm of tour-de-force vocals singed by a lover’s betrayal.

The singer recently wrapped the North American leg of a world tour in support of her eighth album Anti.
