Usher, Nas And Bibi Bourelly Team Up With Tidal To Bring Us The POWERFUL And HAUNTING Interactive Experience ‘Chains’

Usher is mostly known for his moves on the dance floor but in his new song he take on a more serious tone.

The Grammy winning singer has teamed up with Nas and German singer Bibi Bourelly on a powerful new song to raise awareness to racial inequality and police brutality.

This song was released with an interactive experience through Tidal music service, but is also available to everyone. It’s not just any song, Usher is singing about the many victims of police brutality and shining light on their lost lives.

The song title “Chains” has some very heavy lyrics both in the hook and the verses, repeating “We still in chains” multiple times throughout the song.
Not only does the song pay homage to victims like Trayvon Martin, Rekia Boyd and Caesar Cruz, but the video forces you to look into the eyes of these victims. As the video plays, brief descriptions of what happened to each show up on the screen.

In order to get the full experience you must use either ‘Chrome’ or ‘firefox’ as your browser when you visit

When watching the video via webcam, the music only plays when your eyes are centered straight on the eyes of the victim, every time you look away the music stops.

Usher writes:

“I was motivated by the events involving prejudicial injustice that are still happening today.
The reality is that racial bigotry diminishes the lives of too many people in our country.
We have to come together as a country to solve these problems and this is one way I can contribute.
I chose to introduce the song through the “Don’t Look Away” experience because it is important not only to feel the issue but to face it.
When we look away from this problem it gets worse. To fix it we have to face it.
Thank you for supporting this and sharing this on social media so we can create more urgent dialogue around the social inequality, racial tensions and gun violence that confront America today. #DontLookAway #Chains”

The song also introduces the German singer Bibi Bourelly to a mainstream. Bibi’s break came after Kanye West isolated her in a booth and asked her to find a sound. After a few unsuccessful attempts, she stepped outside, went with her own, went back in and within half an hour had written Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money”.
