The year 2014 will always be remembered by most but for these gentlemen 2014 was especially great for these gentlemen will forever be remembered for the accomplishments they made in sports , film , music and business as memoirs of an urban gentleman count down our top five urban gentlemen.


Tie for 5) Kevin Hart

For Kevin Hart the year 2014 was a monster year as he starred in four big budget feature films: Ride Along , About Last Night , Think Like A Man Too and Top Five. Hart also won an NAACP award for his tv series ‘Real Husbands of Hollywood’ as well as for the second straight year he received the MVP award for NBA Celebrity All-Star Game. 2014 was also the year Kevin Hart proposed to his longtime sweetheart Eniko Parrish.

Tie for 5) Pharrell Williams

For Pharrell Williams each year just keep getting more successful than the prior year as his album ‘Girl’ is nominated for best album. His song ‘Happy’ has also won numerous awards in 2014. In Addition to flying high in music , Williams is also a judge on The Voice and has signed lucrative endorsements with Adidas and a line of sunglasses for Moncler called ‘Moncler Lunettes’.

4) Jay Z

In 2014 Jay Z continues to expand his brand , not only in hip hop but films , Sports management and business , acquiring the rights to several businesses including: 40/40 night clubs , a new Comador Cigar line and what could be described as the flashiest champagne company in the world — Armand de Brignac. The mogul was also a producer in films: The Equalizer and Annie with Jamie Fox.

3) Denzel Washington

Denzel Washington continue to defy the odds as he is has a loving relationship with his wife of 31 years when celebrity relationships on average for last less than 7 years. His life’s work include roles that help define him as one of the greatest actors that has ever graced the silver screen. In 2014 he finally found his breakout franchise role as The Equalizer which was his most successful film to date , making over 200 million at the box office.

2) LeBron James

In 2010, he left the Cavaliers for the Miami Heat in a highly publicized ESPN special titled “The Decision”. In his first season in Miami, the Heat reached the Finals but lost to the Dallas Mavericks. James won his first championship in 2012 when Miami defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder. In 2013, he led the Heat on a 27-game winning streak, the second longest in league history. Miami also won its second consecutive title that year. In 2014, the Heat reached the Finals for the fourth consecutive year, eventually losing to the Spurs. Following Miami’s defeat, James opted out of his contract with the Heat and rejoined the Cavaliers. It was reported that James’s decision to join the Cleveland Cavaliers will boosted revenue for businesses around the arena by 500 million dollars in 2014 alone , as well as instantly increased the Cavs team value by $300 million. No sports player in the history has ever had the impact that LeBron James has on the local economy.

1) Dr. Dre


It would be hard to argue with or top spot in this year’s list. 2014 will always be remembered for the monster deal with Apple Dr. Dre worked out. Dre is one of the founding fathers of gangsta rap but is now a business executive with Apple computers , selling his Dre Beats for 3 billion dollars.
