The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin blows the roof off the Ed Sullivan Theater on September 29th, 2014. Franklin covered Adele’s “Rolling in the deep” on the David Letterman Show with her original 17th piece ensemble she performs with forty years earlier on the same stage , including a Whitney Houston’s mom , Cissy Houston , who looked stoic on background vocals.

The performance was in promotion for her upcoming album, ‘Aretha Franklin Sings The Great Diva Classics’,out Oct.21. The release will feature “At Last” by Etta James, “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor, “People” by Barbra Streisand and “No One” by Alicia Keys, to name a few.
