First it was Michael Jackson’s children, then it was Bobbi Kristina and now the latest relative who stand to inherent a vast fortune left behind by a black music icon is Tyka Nelson. The accumulated fortune left behind by Prince over the course of his music career will likely to go to his only sister Tyka Nelson if the singer failed to leave behind a will.

In the picture above Tyka Nelson, 55, was passing out roses to Prince fans as they come to the late singer’s estate to pay their respects to her brother who died suddenly Thursday. Tyka Nelson will be awarded Prince’s estate under Minnesota state law as his closest living relative. Prince died a single man who didn’t have children.

She and her brother were close in recent years after a difficult stretch in their relationship when Tyka was struggling with an addiction to crack cocaine and prostituting herself to support her two young sons, Sir Montece Laeil Nelson and President LenNard Laeil Nelson.

Prince and his sister spent their early years together in northern Minneapolis before Tyka’s life spun out of control. While Prince was building a musical empire and earning millions, Tyka was often homeless, working as a prostitute.

“I was a single mother and my boys were babies,” Tyka recalled. “I sold my body for food, money and pampers.”

Tyka said her lowest point came in 1999, when she was living in a crack house. “I pawned the car Prince had given me and sold the kids’ TV for drugs,” she told The ENQUIRER in a 2003 interview.

After the incident, Prince entered her into an expensive rehab program.
“I relapsed once, but I’ve been clean for years now,” she said.

Prince has an approximate net worth of $300million, which does not include the millions his estate is set to make in the coming months from the increased sale of merchandise and music or the money the singer received when he signed a deal agreeing to stream all his music on Tidal.

His music catalog meanwhile is worth over $500million and could soon grow to over a billion according to Prince’s first manager Owen Husney, due in large part to the fact that unlike other artists he owned both his master recordings as well as his own music publishing.

Prince also has a large collection of unreleased music, which Husney believes may include an album he made with jazz great Miles Davis.

Look for the newly minted billionaire Tyka Nelson, who is a very private person, to be thrust into the spotlight in the upcoming month as it is discovered that she is Prince’s heir to his music masters and fortune. Tyka is also a musician that has a sound similar to her brother’s sound, listen to a video of her music below:
