One of the first black models to grace the cover of ‘Mademoiselle’ reveals to CBS news that she is fighting Alzheimer’s.
Alzheimer’s is a progressive brain disease that brings on memory loss.
The 64-year-old shared her story for an upcoming “CBS Sunday Morning” episode.
B.Smith who full name is Barbara Smith said 4 years ago she went to the doctor after having disturbing symptoms she could not
understand including repeating things and sometimes not able to find answers to simple questions Smith revealed.
Smith owns three restaurants. The ‘B.Smith with Style home collection’ is the first line from an African American to be sold at
the retailer Bed Bath & Beyond and La-Z-Boy companies.
In addition to retail and owning restaurants Smith’s half-hour television show “B.Smith With Style” currently airs on weekdays on bounce TV , featuring home décor and cooking segments.
Smith told CBS that she wanted to reveal her diagnoses with the disease to erase the stigma that is associated with the disease.
The show will air this Sunday on “CBS Sunday Mornings”
