In a hip hop culture where raps tales of despair and violence are often glorified as a rapper’s street credentials. The message of overcoming these struggles to be triumphant and represent for your city or hood on an international stage is appreciated.

In fact if a successful rapper wants to boost all the hoods around America proudly listens to the native son. As he earned his success against the odds, savvy enough to not only survive but thrive. They hang on every word with an intrinsic value of fulfilling their own hopes and dreams.

But what if instead of glorifying the streets or rapping about his success he talks with a much deeper and intimate purpose yet still authentically represents his hood.

Now riding on his voice of influence Kendrick Lamar extends his message past his “To pimp A Butterfly” Lyrics and apply them directly to his Reebok endorsement deal.

Lamar is using his celebrity to promote gang unity in his Reebok Ventilator.

The suede kicks features a red and white colorway for the right shoe and blue and white for the left to correspond to the bloods and crips. The tongues feature Kendrick Lamar’s name in signature writing while the inside features the word ‘NEUTRAL’, symbolizing the substitution of violence for camaraderie. The sneakers drop on July 18.
