In Wake Of The Alton Sterling & Philando Castile Shootings August Alsina And Chris Brown Call For Peace & Unity
In the wake of the two recent shootings where two black men: Alton Sterling and Philando Castile lost their lives at the hands of police officers, r&b’s young lions August Alsina and Chris Brown call for peace and unity in the community.
August said in an Instagram post that his soul was weak: “It’s very disheartening that the people we put in place protect and serve us neglect and murder us”
Chris Brown demanded change and respect as he posted: “something gotta give…we’re getting killed everyday…”
In the case of Alton Sterling, a 37-year-old man Baton Rouge man, was shot several times while on his back after being taken to the ground by two Baton Rouge police officers. Police were responding to a report that a man dressed in red and selling CDs used a gun to threaten someone outside the convenience store where Sterling was selling CDs. The shooting was recorded by multiple bystanders. The videos show the confrontation and shooting at point-blank range.
Less than 24 hours later Philando Castile, a 32-year-old cafeteria worker was gunned down as he reached for his license. Police opened fire on the vehicle shooting and killing Castile with his girlfriend Lavish Reynolds and her young daughter in the Vehicle. Reynolds filmed the events moments after he was shot live on facebook to assure that the truth would be told.
Both shooting led to protests in Baton Rouge, LA and Falcon Heights, Minnesota.
