Straight Out Of Compton California , the city that is known for its notoriety and gangs violence. The city was the first to pin the ‘drive by shooting’ where rival gangs would shoot their victims without even getting out of the car.

Compton is a city in southern Los Angeles County, California, United States, situated southeast of downtown Los Angeles. The city of Compton is one of the oldest cities in the county and on May 11, 1888, was the eighth city to incorporate. As of the 2010 United States Census, the city had a total population of 96,455. In The 70’s LA was the place to be for forward moving African-Americans. Douglas Dollarhide made history in Compton in 1969 when he became California’s first African-American mayor of a metropolitan city. Also black Hollywood was thriving as many inspiring actors and actress moved to LA to take advantage of the black film industry and settled in Compton for it’s Central Location and relatively low cost housing.

People from all around the world tuned in every week to see the beauty black people of Southern California do their thing on Soul Train ,which increase the appeal for blacks to move to Southern California even more.

But by the 80’s NWA told a different side to the city. They told of a side of drugs violence and gang banging. In the 80’s those kids of the soul train dancers were more likely to be jailed , shot or drug abusers than to earn high school diploma. The statistics are even worse for the kids that embrace the gang culture and develop a mind set of hopelessness and survival by any means necessary mode,as the crack cocaine epidemic hit Compton hard. In the 90’s the F.B.I. crime statistic placed Compton as the 8th dangerous city in America.
