For weeks Drake teased fans with the possible hip hop collabo of the year and now it’s finally here.

Drake and Future dropped What A Time To Be Alive, their long-rumored mixtape as a duo, yesterday (Sept. 20) exclusively on Apple Music after the former rapper confirmed the project during a show Friday night.

The 11-song release, executive produced by Future’s fellow Atlanta stalwart Metro Boomin, was first premiered by Drake on his Apple Music show, OVO Sound Radio, before being made available to purchase and stream. β€œIt’s a little soundtrack for people that need it right now,” the rapper told listeners before playing the tape in full. β€œI went to Atlanta for six days a couple weeks ago with the hopes of doing some songs with Future, and when you get around Future, it’s like a vortex: that guy can out-work anybody right now. It’s tough to see someone do four, five songs in one night and not try to match it.”

Drake and Future released their joint mixtape, What A Time To Be Alive, last night on iTunes and Apple Music at 8 PM. Though the project is less than 24 hours old, some outlets are already suggesting that it will top 500,000 in sales its first week. Hits Daily Double credits its information to anonymous “label insiders,” while Chart News currently doesn’t have a source for its estimate.
