Did you know Jada Pinkett Smith was supposed to play Nina Mosley in Love Jones?

The role of Nina Mosley in the classic 1997 romantic film Love Jones was originally written for Jada Pinkett Smith.

The movie was supposed to reunite Lorenz Tate and Jada Pinkett Smith, who had mad chemistry when they played teenage sweethearts in the 1994 romantic comedy Inkwell. But Jada turned down the role and it went to Nia Long.

Ironically, at the time Nia was playing Will Smith’s girlfriend Lisa Wilkes on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. A role Jada Pinkett Smith was also supposed to play but was too short at 5’0” (opposite a 6’2″ Will Smith), thus leaving Nia to take the part once again.

What’s interesting is the same year Love Jones was released Jada Pinkett Smith would marry Will Smith getting the ultimate part of a lifetime as Will’s wife in real life. The two will celebrate their 20th anniversary this year on the 31st of December.
