Cleveland’s dynamic duo of LeBron James and Kyrie Irving combined had 82 of the Cavs total points in Cavs win

The Golden State Warriors needed just one win to get a second title. But what may have been routine for a team won a record-setting 73 games in the regular season was easier said than done especially if you’re trying to close out Cleveland’s dynamic duo of LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. The two combined had 82 of the Cavs total points, which was a new NBA Finals record.

Despite not having forward Draymond Green, who was suspended for Game 5 of The Finals after racking up too many flagrant foul points over the course of the postseason, the Warriors and Cavs were even for most of Game 5, with the game tied at 61 at the half.

Which is when Cleveland’s dynamic duo took over, as LeBron James and Kyrie Irving became the first teammates in history to both score at least 40 in a Finals game. They led the Cavaliers to a 112-97 win, despite a 37-point night from Golden State’s Klay Thompson.
