E! News is reporting that the cast and crew of the upcoming N.W.A biopic ‘Straight Outta Compton came dangerously close to a real gang related shootout while filming scenes for the movie about the Compton gangsta rappers.
According to reports a man not linked to the film was shot and rushed to the hospital. The gun shot victim was transported to a hospital and is said to be in stable condition , said to be in stable condition , however filming for the gangsta rap movie has been shut down due to the shooting being seriously close to the cast and crew.
Filming will resume once a safer place is discovered.
Original N.W.A member Ice Cube confirmed via Twitter in June that the biopic based on the famous rap group from the late ’80s is happening, and also revealed the release date and part of the cast.
“Finally found the cast for the NWA movie. Me, Gary Gray, Dre w/ Cube, Eazy & Dre #StraightOuttaCompton coming 8/14/15,” the rapper tweeted.
The studio has assembled its leading threesome to tackle the roles of Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and the late Eazy-E. The three parties with approval—Cube, Dre and Eazy-E’s widow Tomica Wright—have reportedly signed off on the actors who will play the core members of the seminal rap group. Cube will be played by his son, O’Shea Jackson, Jr., Marcus Callender will star as Dre, and Eazy will be played by Jason Mitchell.
“I’m totally involved, I’m engulfed in it,” Ice Cube told MTV News, saying that the film will be shot in Compton. “This is our legacy, you can’t play with this, there’s no cutting corners. I’m fully engulfed in that movie, very anal about it. It gotta be right.”
Straight Outta Compton heads straight into theaters on Aug. 14, 2015.
