Beyonce performs the classic 1966 “Bang Bang”(My Baby Shot Me Down) by Cher to serenade a cigar smoking Jay Z in the latest trailer to promote their upcoming HBO special about their ‘On the run tour’.
According to sources the tour is generating over $5 million a night and has totaled over $100 million in sales despite rumors of marital problems.
The HBO special could be one of the biggest HBO concert performances in the networks history.
The special will feature footage from their performance in Paris on September 12 & 13 , airing on Saturday September 20.
The song was written by Cher’s then-husband Sonny Bono and released in 1966. The song reached number three in the UK Singles Chart and number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and is one of Cher’s biggest selling singles of the 1960s.
Quentin Tarantino used the song in the award-winning intro scene in his 2003 film ‘Kill Bill’ where a French speaking assassin wiped away the blood , sweat and tears of a badly beaten character played by Uma Thurmond just before popping the actress with a bullet right in the head. “Bang Bang”. The graphic scene would go down in cinematic history as one of the finest scenes ever.
